Yambu,
What's up my brother! Ritmo Caliente by Eddie Palmieri is a very good choice. That's one of the first Palmieri CDs I started listening to. Here's another sizzling Palmieri classic, Super-Imposition. This one goes back to early 70's and features Nicky Marrero, Chocolate Armenteros, Tommy "Chucky" Lopez, Andy Gonzalez, and Eladio Perez on tumbadoras. This whole album is off the wall but my favorite tracks are Pa' Huele, Chocolate Ice Cream and 17.1.

While at it check out "El Molestoso", great album with Tommy Lopez, Manny Oquendo and the incredible Barry Rogers, the best trombone in Latin music. I have all those early Eddie's y La Perfecta albums, there is nothing better than that, maybe as good early Cal Tjader with Mongo and Willie. "El Molestoso" is a jewel,
"tremendo afinque" with Tommy Lopez on one conga only . Saludos, Dario :D

I would greatly appreciate if somebody could share the above-mentioned notes on the songs in the Mamacita CD. I only have the itunes version, but as a beginner could really use the notes on the style for each song.

It is a fanstastic CD, BTW, so I truly appreciate the recommendations listed here in the forum.

Thanks in advance,

Just finished listening to "Cal Tjader's Latin Concert", for the third time. There was just something very magical between Cal Tjader and Mongo Santamaria. This one is definitely worth checking out for you Mongo fans.

afrocubarico,

Unquestionaly!!! My ipod library has a bunch of calmongo stuff and I can't get enough. After 20-30 times of listening to "TUMBAO" I still get chills sensing the chemistry you mention. They were truly magic.

Paquito D' Rivera Quartet?'s FUNK TANGO album. Hey, suggestion for cheap-ass music. If you where there is a sizeable library, hit up their audio department. You'd be surprised how many great CD's they've got. Bring 'em home and burn a copy. That's how I got this one and a ton of others that are part of my librarary.
