Am in need of some fast advice; does anyone have an idea which model these are and whether these drums are any good?

I'm seriously thinking about buying them, but have no idea if they are even wood/fibreglass/whatever.. I see there is a ring around the belly, but could that just be a style-thing?!~ ???

any help is much appreciated!

Hello!

To me it looks like old marathon series, but the alma around suggests me that they are fiberglass... ? Just a feeling..

I started on similar quinto and to me it is still a memory for a good quinto sound.
What's the price?

what are the sizes? they look pretty small? (9" or 10") ??? I have a hard time with anything smaller than 11" personally. Just doesn't feel right. But if your looking for a requinto sound...go for it.

Heya folks,

They're apparently 10" and 11" (supposed to be conga and quinto I guess).

They are going for ~$200 USD here in Australia.

I already have some cheap LP drums and was wondering whether I should invest in better skins and improved hardware to make them sound nice.. or if i should just put them to the side and get these Meinl bad boys.

I have to say I've never played on fibreglass (if indeed that's what they are)....

hmmm.. decisions decisions..

I got the cheap LP's for $160 USD and have just figured I need to spend about another $100-150 USD to get them to sound good (new skins, improved hardware, minor repair, etc)
OR
I can probably get these Meinl Mystery Congas for $200 USD - probably need new skins (+$75USD), but the hardware should be sturdy and serviceable.

So it's prob going to end up costing the same amount, but in one; I end up with tarted up LP's.. on the other; a pair of (possibly fibreglass) vintage Meinls.

"now leaving Rock...next stop is Hard Place"

Any suggestions? ???

They are fiberglass,

Probably not an upgrade from what you are playing.

They are solid drums, and do sound ok for fiber.

Hope that helps,

Tony

Hi tactikal
If I were you I´d go for full-size drums.
The Meinls are quite sturdy, though, with a nice sound, so there´s nothing wrong with it. But then ygain you might want to improve your setup and not keep it on the same level... ???
Peace & drum

hmmmmmmm...

I think from your posts and the other stuff on the net it looks like whilst fibreglass is durable, gig-proof, and has a loud & cutting sound... everyone still loves the wood.

I think I'm leaning toward staying with my lil cheapies and fixing 'em up with nice skins and new hardware.

Either that or save up more and get the Floatune Meinl's that were going for $750 USD last week (which didn't sell).

Thanks for your help everyone!
