I can send pics to anyone interested in seeing it. It has 7 tuning hooks and is a work of art.
p.s...I am looking for an oak Gon Bops Conga, or an oak Valje conga. I am in the SF Bay area. Thanks very much.

The breeze, I know someone that will be dumping stuff very soon. some are good to go, and some need work. You name it, he probably has it.
Nice set of GB mahoganeys too.
I would go for a set of Juniors, or the mahoganey, but my Isla order should be ready in a about a week.

So here´s my colorful mix that shows my personal conga evolution and my lack of knowledge and decision a while ago to get a matching set :D :

1. Pair of crappy pre-Cosmic Percussion 9+10",
with decent cowhide, only good for the kids now

2. A pre-Kaman 11" LP Classic quinto with thick cowhide

3. An 11 3/4" Matador wood conga as a complement

4. Afro Elite conga - stands high, incredible sound!

5. 11" LP Giovanni Ash quinto with beloved mule skin on it.

BTW I use #2.-5. in various setups, e.g. seated or with stands (just two of them then)

I have a question for Thebreeze---What type of solid shell drum (conga) did you mention in your prior post? Just curious.
Thanks---KK :D

1 mahogany Junior Tirado Quinto
1 mahogany Matthew Smith Tumbador
2 LP aspires (my very first drums, I stripped them painted them over again, and still have them to this day...although more for sentimental reasons, which is why LP will always have a soft spot in my heart regardless of what I think of their drums nowadays)

next drum will either be another Matthew Smith or maybe an Isla...decisions...decisions...decisions

Here is my line up:

Three LP Fiberglass Patato (quinto, conga and tumba).
Three Meinl Headliners (quinto, conga and tumba)
Three LP Palidium (quinto, conga and tumba)
Two mint 1985 LP Salsa (conga and tumba)
Two Timba (conga and tumba)
One LP display model (wood/fiberglass combo)

While not congas, I also own two sets of bata drums. One from Cuba and the other from Matt Smith (they both sound great).

Suerte!

I own 6 drums total as follows:
3 LP (pre-kaman) classic blond wood congas (quinto, conga and tumba) w natural skins;
1 LP (pre-kaman) matador blond wood tumbadora, which, tonally, fits perfectly between the conga and the tumba (I think the classic tumba has better bass than the matador tumba)
2 oak gon bops, conga and tumba.
my usual set-up is the 4 LPs,
with the 2 gon bops off to the side (for when friends want to play)

I sold the 3 bannana colored Tocas, now I just have the 5 LP (old skool) natural classics. Best drums I ever played.
Different setups for different gigs.

Hey Mike, how is that Remo Talking drum? Does it have a good range?
I have a India street one thats a beatch to keep tuned (weather) and the range is small. Plus its very fragile

sorry for the OT.

As you can see I don't alot (or very interesting drums for that matter) - I do love my GB's though.

Anyhoo - the main reason I'm posting is because of the strange little reqinto you see on the stand. I know lots of us check out ebay for drums and some of you may have noticed that odd little drum a while back. It had a tacked on head and cracks. But I liked the shape and thought of it like a Charlie Brown Christmas tree drum. I got it for 11 bucks (just about when the Canadian dollar hit par I think).

Judging by the paint job somebody used to love it and I had some hardware lying around and the skin from the Matador hembra. So I glued the cracks, epoxied the inside and slapped the hardware and skin on. It has alternating light and dark wood staves and the dark ones are incredibly soft. It weights nothing. The sound is strange but oddly enough for such a little drum it has a hefty base note. Can't decide if I like it yet but in any case for 11 bucks an interesting conversation piece and something I might give to my kid someday.

Three Bauer Lites (11", 11.75", 12.5") and two LP Aspires. I don't play all 5 together.

It's funny, but maybe not completely unexpected, that no one who has yet voted has only one conga.
