Why is this happening ?

I think we should discuss this matter. It is a topic started by Dr Z in the miscellanea part of the forum & some people just jumped on him.

I would like to know why are you people so hostile to Dr Z ? Even though nobody ask about the topic he posted, you people wrote in general as if every member of the forum was a experience musician. What about the newbies ? They may not know what to take into consideration while buying a set of congas,Bongos or Timbales. Some people hate when other have more experience or knowledge. To me knowledge is the most important thing to share. I have read many of Dr Z topics & found them useful. Why is this happening ?

Well, although I am of the opinion that Zaragenca has written many things you could seriously argue about: I think you are is basically right, Caballoballo, hostility has no place at congaplace!
Neither have politics (remember that thread a couple of months ago that Abakua had to close?).

What about the idea of fairness in general? Don´t treat someone the way you DON´T want to be treated yourself.
I like that phrase in German, too :;): "Was DU nicht willst, das man Dir tu, das füg´ auch keinem andern zu" ERICH KÄSTNER, German poet and author of many beautiful novels.

Yeah, but you could apply that quote to Zaragenca as well. How would he like it if this forum was filled with nothing but incoherent rambling with no context and shameless self-promotion? It would be utterly worthless to all of us.

At first I was suprised to see people react so strongly to his threads and posts, but then I did a search and read for myself why he seems to drive some folks crazy. Now, on some forums I've been on, they are super strict about criticizing others, and here folks seems to police themselves fairly well. In terms of their reactions to "Dr." Z, I think people have the right idea by challenging the meanings and purpose of what it is he's posting. It is important to know the sources of the info. I'm not a doctor of percussion, nor do I claim to be. But I also haven't seen any reason why I should take this guy seriously.

But, being that this is an open forum, I have as much right to question him as he does to post. That's the neat thing about these forums.

Well-put, yes! Besides I´m not - NOT - Zaragenca´s barrister....

Bingo, correct, so let hypocrisy, arrogance or showing-off ridicule itself - no need to take unnecessary notice IMHO.
Don´t give "Dr." Z too much attention if you don´t he deserves it.

I read many things on here that don't interest me and many that do. I filter the good from the bad depending on my needs. If Dr. Z says that the earth is flat then what do I care I just skip to the next. But people do like to get into these things its the reason Jerry Springer is so popular. If you don't think so watch how long this post is gonna get. Sometimes I get the feeling he does it on purpose.

He definately opens himself up to criticism and questioning, and I would expect to and be more than willing to defend or explain myself if I were to make a statement that left someone questioning my meaning or intention. That's just a standard dialogue.

Guys im not one to comment on topics like this. but im like tone you can either use your time wisely or waste your time replying to post that have no value to you.
either way, i think with DR Z there more than meets the eye here.
i mean the guys states that his computer gets hacked by the FBI or whoever. you have to read between the lines.
