Guys, don't kid yourselfs, the best conga made on planet earth today is a Ritmo conga from Matthew, I have played all the top manufactures of today, but nothing comes close in sound projection, beauty, durability, craftsmanship in the finer details. This young cat has perfected the art of conga making, hands down. I know he has a waiting list and some of us get a bit impatient, but when those boxes finally arrive and you open them you say COÑOOOO,COJONES !!!!!!.
I just picked up a vintage pair of oak he made in 1996 11 3/4 and 13 and the sound projection from them is beyond anything I have ever own.
Enclosed is a set of mahogany he recently finished for a studio percussionist. Hey, I don't get commissions from Matt, but excellence has to be recognized. My 2 cents.

What is Matt Smith's drum order wait time lately? Ballpark prices?

Considering buying a set in 2008.

Matt is $750 a drum usually, and his wait time is at least 9 months, but I have 2 friends waiting for over a year...

I'm not saying it isn't worth wait though...

Dario,
Interesting simily of using Vincent Van Gogh's name to Matthews congas. Not that I am correcting the spelling or the use of Van Gogh, but wasn't Van Gogh characterized as a abstract artist?
At any rate I respect your choice of congas. How would you compare Matthews to SOS. I have heard by others that they are almost identical being that Matthew was a student of Jay's. I have had a SOS oak set a while back and did enjoy them.
Have you ever played Moperc congas? I would appreciate your thoughts.

If you look closely at the grain on those congas it kind of looks like art,

Van Gogh was an Post-Impressionist painter,

the grain pattern of that big tumba on the right kind of reminds me of this Van Gogh painting, is that what your getting at Omolenko?
