I'm offering for sale a set of 1970's Gon Bops, consisting of a super conga 12 1/4" and a super tumba 13 1/4", the biggest GB set made. These were GB's most expensive congas, with the teardrop crowns, american red oak with a gel coating to protect the wood. They project a very mellow sound. Made in the good old USA, not massed produced in Thailand. If you want the big strong sound of Francisco Aguabella, Ray Barretto and Poncho, they all played these very same congas and the same big sizes. I have replaced the conga head with a Remo fiberskyn, but will also include the real rawhide head. Definitely collector's items with another 40 yrs. of quality sounds. I will eventually list them on Ebay, but will give priority to any forum member looking for quality congas. MOFORIBALE AL TAMBO'.
Dario. :D

Omelenko,
What do the aluminum plates say?
That looks like something added later.
I have a red mahogany + quinto and requinto.
But the plate those had was sticked aluminum.

The labels were custom made at an engraving place. All my congas have cutom made labels, the SOS,Juniors and the Matthew's. These read GON BOPS OF CALIFORNIA CONGA and TUMBA.
I'm asking $950, which is a reasonable price or $1,000 and I'll pay shipping. These congas are superior built and are heavy.
Saludos, Dario :D
