So I was bored and headed in to my drum store, just to have a look around at whats new, shop for any new little percussion effect/toys etc and have a chat with the staff who have supported me for the last 15 years with LP etc..

While looking around, I couldnt help but notice a far darker, thicker looking skin on a 2nd hand LP Giovanni tres golpes/conga. As I got closer I realised it was a mule skin mounted on there! (Mule skin is extremely rare in this country)

I tuned it up, and went through the motions, I was hooked instatly! Love at first slap! :D  I just had to have it.

The boys at the store were going to sell it for $750, I got it for $400  They also through in a case for it, the padded one with wheels on it and carry straps etc, normally selling at $179, I got it for $50!

Walked in expecting to buy nothing, walked out with another conga! Merry Christmas to me!

here are some pics...

last one for now... as you cans ee has some battle scars on it, I think it gives the drum character!

In the new year, I'll be sanding back the Giovanni and refinishing it in a red similar to the Classics.

The sound projection, clarity and crispyness ont eh mule skin is amazing, it had been many years since I last played a mule skin, they are fantastic.

Crispness in the slap is unparralled by the other drums.
Seeing as the other drums are tuned lower, you dont notice a major difference, and yes, thats some major sunlight, been so d a m n hot here last few weeks. We are in summer here at the moment.

ABAKUA,

Congratulations on a great buy! A top-of-the-line LP tumbadora, already with a mule skin and a quality bag with wheels to go, you can't beat that price!

Blessed and joyful Christmas to you and everyone on CongaBoard!
