quinto question - 9" head wood quinto?

A place where discuss about secrets, tips and suggestions for practicing on congas and to improve your skill and technique ...

Postby yoni » Fri May 09, 2003 6:12 pm

I would like to eventually get wood congas again, but haven't seen any mass-produced quintos with a small 9" head, like the old fiberglass LP Patato "Super Quinto" I have.

Anyone know who makes a good wooden quinto with a 9" diameter head?

Thanks,
yoni

Hi Yoni, hope all is well! I recommend you contact Jay Bereck's of Skin on Skin drums, or Natalio "Junior" Tirado, both guys out of NYC. I'm pretty sure they can customise a 9" Quinto for you.

Hope this helps!

Wow, thank you, Jorge! I just might make it to NYC this summer - if I do, I'll definitely check out these men and their drums! Muchas gracias,

I do own three "Junior" tumbadoras. Quinto, Conga, and Tumba set. A couple of years back, I did pay $400.00 a piece for them. Probably these days he is charging more. Beautiful drums!
