that looks great.

I have a question. is the bottom edge straight or is there a "lip"? from this last picture it looks straight.. I am wondering if this rubber would fit an original LP for example with the bottom making an angle....???

Hi B !

It's straight on this drum, but I think it could be possible to protect an angle because we can "open" the rubber. I will try.

Hello,

I have try my "U" rubber on a bottom with angle, it's great.

For my tumba with a straight thin bottom shell, I needed this "U" form, but maybe a clear vinyl tube with glue (as tonio said) could be great too on a bottom with angle like original LP.

Do somebody ever try ?

Here is a photo.

I admire your talent and willingness to share your knowledge. Having done a little work with fibreglass myself on boats I can appreciate what it takes to create a form like that. Good going!

Hey Galou
Where can we find this rubber? It looks like door protections for cars, but bigger...

Hello B,

I found it on a good hardware store. They don't have it in stock and had to purchase for me. You can ask on a store but they maybe want you to buy 25m long..... We need 50cm for one drum....

I've seen on some African made djembes they use bicycle tires. Sometimes it looks good, other times it just looks like bicycle tire on the bottom rim.
I plan on using some 3mm red neoprene gasket material around the bottom of my congas and djembe. I'll be using West System Epoxy to glue it on and carefully flushing it with the surface of the shell.

Congalou,

OUTSTANDING!!! The slides showing the build were good, but what really turned me on was the music. Love that groove. Very sweet. Congratulations and have a peaceful, musically fulfilling holiday.
