I used to have the compilation below the one you pointed out Roka [Afro-Latino]. It to features mainly African groups doing Cuban stlyes. Very cool sound - I had it in tape [remember that?] and wore it out.

Very nice rhythms played by the brother in Africa on the 3 drums. I like especially what he's doing with his left hand.

Just a small point tho: Looks to me more like he's playing Bugarabou rhythms on Sabar drums rather than Bugarabou. They look like Sabar family of drums to me, which are usually played with one stick & one hand and have 7 tuning pegs and rope round the top. I have a Bugarabou drum which I got in West Africa and it looks different to these.

Thoughts?

thanks for the vid!

Laurent,
Like all your technique clips-- this one is flawless. But would greatly appreciate a close-up of SLOW EXECUTION as a learning tool. I know this is somewhat troublesome, but-- with respect--it would be very helpful in mastering mano secreta.

Yep,

Like moist o the fuse/rock/cover record sessions I've been involved in--- they shouldn't have even wasted their time bringing in a conga player. She's lucky they brought her up in the first break-- after that she could have packed up and walked out.

Yeah it's too bad, I really wanted to hear her play, without the woman on the congas their just another rock band, but with her they are unique.

Here's there other video

MAS QUE NADA!
I love this tune and have it on my mp3 player. The (Cuban) Spanish is so different from Portuguese, I dig.

Congamyk,
Patato and Totico also do an excellent rumba version of this song.

This song is such a classic, the Brasil 66 version is still my favorite.

NG - cool. You should post more vids.

I really dug the Brazilian conga thing you did before.
You should do that one again and slow it down a bit.
