Your Favorite Bag For Conga's

What is your favorite bag for your conga's c/o price & construction & function of the bag?

So far, the bags that I have used are LP Padded bags ($80 ea.), some custom made bags from JR Custom Bags ($110 ea.), and Beato bags ($90 ea). As far as which I prefer, I actually like the fact that I can place the bag over my shoulder and rest it on my back and carry it a short distance if necessary, the LP and Beato are made for this. The Beato is probably the better bag in my humble opinion for the drums, it's ready to receive the drum, meaning it doesn't collapse like the LP bag, and it's shape is round like the drum itself. There is an issue however if you are trying to fit a SuperTumba into it, the largest drum that I can fit into it is a 13 1/4" and it's a bit tight. You wouldn't be able to fit anything over 31" tall into it either.

I have 4 bags by Gator. I bought them from musicians friend when they were having a buy 1 get 1 sale. Got all 4 for about $120 including shipping. They are padded, have wheels, handles on the side and top, soulder straps, a pocket, and a "belt" of sorts that helps cinch the bag tighter aroud smaller drums. I can fit my 13+ inch tumba into it, though it is very snug. My only complaint is my 9.75 requinto sort of swims in it (but at least it's in a bag) and the shoulder straps aren't padded. I don't know what they go for now but I'm glad I got them when I did.

I do like the Gator bags but will always have a place in my heart for the original bargain - authentic South Bronx Jerry Gonzales signature mailbags - stolen off the back a mailtruck double-parked in front of a local bar!!!

Thanks bdrbongo, musicians friend still has these for 59.00 for 2 bags. Is the padding very thick? And is the bottom padded very well c/o that the head side goes down on this style of bag? I hope they still have these when I have the extra cash.

Hey MC 77,
Despite nostalgia for the mail bags of my criminal past, I highly recommend these Gator bags. Nicely padded.........oh, and Bush still sucks!!

Sorry for the late reply, I don't check this every day.
The padding is thick enough for me, but I've not owned any other kind of bag so I can't compare it to anything. Yes, they do go head down, and YES, Bush does suck!

Just a heads up for everyone that the 2-for-1 price for the Gators bags at Musician's Friend is still good as of Sept. 22, 2006. (4 bags - $120 total.)

I have some Remo bags coming . They were recommended By Volcano Percussion. I have no experience with them but I will find out this week.
