"Gonzalez marries jazz and Afro-Cuban sensibility" -Boston Sunday Globe
Jerry Gonzalez has taken a global view of jazz in creating his unique brand of improvised music. While his trumpet and flügelhorn reflect the influence of Miles Davis and Dizzy Gillespie, his personal cultural roots have given him a natural understanding of Afro-Cuban rhythms. By Craig Harris, All Music Group
Jerry is one of the legendary artists illustrating Afro Cuban Jazz in the critically acclaimed film CAlle 54 , by Frernando Trueba.

tocando, Thanks for posting this event. If it wasn't for your post I probably would have missed this one.
This was my second time catching a live performance by Jerry Gonzalez and the Fort Apache Band. These guys rock! I absolutely love the way this band interweaves straight-ahead jazz with Latin rhythms.
I caught the Saturday mid-night show. The band was moist. Everyone played their ass off. It's good to see that these guys still draw a huge crowd. I spoke with Jerry and he seems really happy living in Spain. He said he was really happy to be performing in NYC. It was a great show. I recommend you guys catch this band live if they ever show up in your neck of the woods.
I would love to see Jerry Gonzalez and Fort Apache. Afrocubarico you are lucky you have seen them twice! Great pics, you must have been right by the stage.
