Very pretty....I like the wood grain on the hembra. Obviously the company had good woodworkers but no expertise with metalwork.

They look like beauties Isaac, I see those nice cream powdery colored mules on them, I already know how great they sound.

all the best, Barrie

Hear, hear on those beautiful bongos!

I'm assuming that they're the "regular" sized JCR bongos and not the "smaller", traditional Cuban bongos that JCR decided to revive, although I may be wrong.

Could be because the hembre is forward but that looks like a nine inch set to me. In my experience those (in the picture) are the type of skins to go for when seeking mule for bongo, very different from the reddish kind which seem better for congas, I have the same on my bongo and they are as dry sounding as I ever heard, very easy to play. They are great a bit thicker for quinto too for the same reason.

Re: JCR NEW BONGO - Caly's Recent Work

Postby Isaac » Mon Sep 15, 2008 4:12 am

I've taken a few photos of Caly's latest bongos.
They are all solid lathed tropical hardwood which I am
supervising. We will work with stave shells only occasionally in between
our tropical wood shipments. The results are very different
to the trained ear.
Anyone interested may email me privately.
