MY JUNIOR TIRADO CONGA STABLE

Postby Omelenko » Sat Apr 05, 2008 1:57 am

Presently I have 8 Junior Tirado congas. I recently got back 5 that I had sold. Three of them I sold them 20 yrs. ago and another two (a pair) that I had sold on Ebay about 3yrs. ago. Those 5 and 3 that were my permanent ones make 8 Junior Tirado congas. I also have a pair of Skin on Skin and a pair of Matt Smith's Ritmos.

I plan to sell or trade a pair of Junior Tirado (conga and Tumba) but I haven't decided on which pair. I'm coming to the forum members first before I go on Ebay, where I always do well money wise, but money comes and goes and historic congas don't.

I plan to either sell or trade a set of Juniors. To trade, it would have to be for congas that have significance to me. That excludes commercial sets. If any of you wants a set of Junior Tirado congas (impossible to find now a days) let me know for possible sell or trade. All of you here know the quality and historic value of Junior Tirado congas, especially to a collector.

Enclosed you will find 3 pairs of Juniors that I currently have.

Saludos, Dario

El señor Natalio Tirado Ruiz (Junior) with his conga creations in his apartment in Brooklyn, NY, a few months before he went into a coma.
May the master rest in peace.

Congabear,

That 11 3/4" Junior Tirado conga was mine, I just shipped it yesterday to a guy in Maryland that got an Ismael tumba from me some years back and needed
a conga to match, so he figured a Junior conga would do because he could not find an Ismael . Both Junior and Ismael congas are almost impossible to find these days.

Saludos, Dario

PS. This is the one you're talking about.

So you thought the drum wag going to fall in the drink and drown. You see Dario is a real concern and nice owner so he is nearby playing lifeguard while the drums are tanning and having a good time by the pool....... :D

Actually, I floated from Cuba to Miami in my Junior Tirado congas, they are amphibians and produce and incredible "tumbao" sound when played underwater. When played underwater I mount whale skin heads on them !
Tremendo vacilon ! Hahahaha.

Here's some Cubans I found floating in 1993.
That was before the "wet foot / dry foot" policy, so they all made it in.
They all had family or connections in Union City NJ.

Unfortunately they weren' t carrying any congas with them.....con ocho personas en ese pequeño barco no había muchos de espacio adicional

respecto!
