htp,

Cool!!! Thanks for sharing this photo!

Where did you get this photo? I Googled Isla Percussions' website and it's still the same old website. Nothing has changed.

Curious,

HTPhan Design Studio is a group of designers interested in architectural, industrial and graphic design.
HTPhan collaborated with Isla Percussions in the creation of the new hardware for its private collection.

The concept of the new hardware is to accentuate the original unique form of the Isla drums. The new hardware
design increases the rigidity the drum body creating new sound, suprising even to Isla drums creator. A total of 4 drums : Re-quinto, Quinto, Conga and Tumba were created specifically for HTPhan Desgin Studio. The drums are permanent exhibit in HTPhan Design Studio.

The poster posted in this forum was designed by HTPhan Design Studio to show its appreciation to all members of this forum who shares their knowledge that contributes to the successful design of beautiful drums, wonderful sound and expert craftsmanship by Isla Percussions.

htp,

Hmmm.... Very intriguing!

As I suspected, HTPhan is a design company. Is Phan a Vietnamese surname? Mario Punchard once told me that his office/factory is located in Garden Grove, CA where i know that there's a sizeable Vietnamese community.

Btw, is the current distinctive Isla Percussions stainless-steel hardware (crown/rim, plates and rods) a design by HTPhan?

Thanks for providing a little bit more info,

Manny, maybe you're thinking too much? I believe Isla is in the Gardena area, which is an hour's drive away from Garden Grove.

Whombamboom,

Oops! I got confused. I thought Isla was in Garden Grove.

Out of habit, I guess. It's because my family and I trek to Disneyland every summer and often stay at a hotel in adjacent Garden Grove.

Thanks for the correction,
