What make could these be?

Found these for sale online, they are located about 35 min drive away from me... Thinking about getting them just cause well, I fell like it hahahaha Just by looking at the images, they look like a mix and match of different parts to make it up.
I wonder, what they could possibly originally be? I was thinking of just having them here to add to my drum collection, not really for gigging etc...

Anyone recognise them?

Does look like a mix match of hardware...

At first glance, European or Japanese.

Side plates look beefy with rough welds... not very european or japanese, the bolts look retro fitted and very Japanese.

I can see little circle marks from the drill press on the crown, looks hand done, but well made crown. Notice its a bit small for the drum.

yeah, LP lugs. No inside pic available, these are all there is, they were sent to me via an auction on ebay.. I might have to pass on them, save every penny for that set of Matthew Smiths!

If the price is right they'd be worth picking up if you teach and have students who don't have their own instruments. At face value, I'd pay about $275 to $300 CDN, maybe a bit more if I like the sound. The hardware looks pretty rough.

Abakua....Here are pictures of a Slingerland Virgin Fiberglass Shell that I made into a nice Conga using the following parts..
I had to re drill the holes to use Pearl Brackets, Meinl Tuning Lugs, and an Lp Matador Rim. It turned out real nice.

Slingerland shell, Pearl brakets, Meinl lugs, Matador rim and the result is so pretty !!!... For congas, as for music, as for humans : mix give us beautifull results !!

It's very interesting for me, you maybe know I have made fiber shell (you can see it on http://www.myspace.com/congalou ) in one part, like these baby. Could you put some photos of the inside, bottom and top edge, It could maybe help me.

And what is the weight ? are they thick ? Does the thickness is regular ? how is the bottom ?

Those are Cuban SONOCS, they were made in the 80's when they made some fiberglass tumbadoras. I played a set some years back, they sound really good, much better than most fiberglass congas (suenan con coj...s). Don't miss the opportunity and get them, then take your time beautyfing them. No pierdas el chance mi socio.

The fiberglass threw me... yes, very sonoc hardware... I should have recognized the handle!

I cant see how these can sound all that great. Has anyone played a fiber sonoc?

I'm the one that identified them and I played a set here in Miami in the early 90's from a Cuban rumba group and they sounded great, better than fiberglass LPs.
SONOC only made a few fiberglass congas after the Caoba wood was banned, then they started making them out of Cedro. Abacua, you have a collectors item in your hands.
