Aloha from Hawaii!
I'm new here...got a question that's been burning up in my mind!! I'm hoping someone here can help! PLEASE!!
Okay, so I play a set of LP 35th anniversary conga's (Conga & Tumba-glitter blue finish, same shape/style/specs as the Galaxies, I also have the matching bongos! LOVE THEM ALL!), I currently have Remo Nuskyn heads on them and those have been on the drums for a while now and I like them, but I'm looking at swapping those out for either Fiberskyn or Skyndeep heads.
Does anyone here have these heads mounted currently, and what has your experience been? Like them...or not? How do they play? FYI-I also have a set of Matador (wood-Quinto/Conga/Tumba) which I used to play Evans Tri-Center dot synthetic heads, but about 2 years ago switched back to natural LP "Hand Picked" skins. I liked the Evans heads because of the humidity here I don't have to constantly de-tune...but on my wood drums I wanted to get that sound back that I missed from natural skins. Because I live in Hawaii...sometimes it's difficult to buy heads because I can ONLY order them online...and I'm unable to actually choose the heads/skins myself to check them. Anyway, I guess this brings me to a SECOND QUESTION:
Does anyone here have a contact for good quality drum heads, that have been already mounted on the hoops, other than buying them from Musicians Friend or Sam-Ashe.com? No offense to either of those websites, I get a lot of gear from both of them, and love what they do!
Please help a Hawaiian...MAHALO!
