LP 5-STAR Congas ???

Postby congamyk » Sun Aug 10, 2008 8:22 pm

Anyone seen or heard anything about LP's new line? I can't find any info on these on the web.

Raul Rekow and Karl Perazzo did a clinic here last week at Explorer's Percussion and Raul used quinto/conga/tumba from LP's new line - 5 STAR. They were red wood, appear to be slimmer than original classics and use a burnished traditional Cuban rim. They also have LP's new nameplate logo. These drums are for sale at Explorers Percussion in KC.

Looks to me like a revamped version of their Lp Classic II series line. The only difference I see between them is the use of traditional rims, And a new model name perhaps for marketing purposes.

Yes, that's true! That is the exact model Raul used for the clinic.
I do think they look much better than the ugly classic II wallpaper and the burnished traditional rims are fantastic.
Where did you find that photo? Have a link? Thanks!

The non-glossy, understated satin finish and the brushed-steel hardware and traditional-looking rim make the new LP 5-Star model look more classy and expensive. In short, they look more professional.

IMO, this is a step in the right direction for LP.

These look like LP's version of the Toca Traditional series to me.

LP is getting away from their rounder design of the classic drum, and that I don't like ...yes they are starting to look more like Tocas and Minels, more slender at the bottom part
