Did you get your Islas yet? I'm guessing you would have posted pics if that were the case. I'm still waiting, but last I heard they should be done next week.

It's now been just over 5 months since I ordered my tubs from Mario, and they are finally done!!! And Mario just informed me that mine are the first ever set to feature a brand new crown style. I don't know what they look like, but I'll have photos in a couple of days. He says that the old crowns are like the H2, and these new ones are like the real Hummer. Not too sure what that means, but they're supposed to be a lot more durable, and even have a new look to them. Mario's going to take masses of photos of them on Sunday after the skins have dried, and ship them to me on Monday. He's going to use my congas as the models for the photos on the website which is being redesigned!! He was so excited about my drums on the phone, and that made me really excited to get them. I'll keep everyone updated. :) :) :)

Light Seeker,

Big congrats to you, bro! I can't wait to see the pictures of your drums with the new crowns. Who knows? I might just have my set of 3 Islas re-crowned too, if the new ones are that much better.

Just to let everyone in on a little secret, Mario did mention to me over the phone about those new crowns several months ago. But, he told me to keep mum about them for a while until their actual production.

I just looked at photos of my new babies, with wet skins. Mario has requested I not post photos until after he sends me pics of the drums with dry skins, and I'm going to honor that request, so this is kind of just a teaser. I can say, though, that they are beautiful (big surprise). As for the new crowns... the differences are subtle, but noticeable. They are obviously different, yet still distinctly Isla crowns.
I should have final photos by the end of the week, and I'll post them thereafter.

By this time next week, they'll be in my hands.
