Wow how exciting but how is it that youre getting them so soon? does he have an inventory of some of his drumms?

Hi Guys,
I ordered them about 6 or 8 weeks ago. Every drum from Volcano Percussion is an original and I don't think he has a extra supply on hand. His drums are in high demand. I hope to get some photos posted soon but I have to be at a rehearsal this afternoon so I hope UPS gets here soon. I am very excited about this set. I am very happy with Volcano Percussion Products. Thanks for sharing in my excitement.

Here are some photos of the new congas. I love um!

I’m like salivating all over the place, Wowwwwwwwwwwwww Beautiful they truly look original. By the way that's a great turn around time. I would no doubt consider Volacano’s for my next set :D
Thanks for sharing your pictures. Once again, congratulations.

Congrats. The wood sure looks great, but I'm more impressed by the appearance of the hardware--it looks like it can handle just about anything a crazed conguero with a wrench could dish out.

Wondering what kind of skins they're wearing, and how the sound qualities of the Monkeypod compare to some of the woods we're more familiar with.

Beautiful craftsmanship on those Volcano congas!

I couldn't help but notice the crowns. The rims seem to now have a hybrid-traditional design (half-round profile) very similar to those of my Gon Bops California Series and the lug ears remiscent of Valjes/Resolutions. Also the lug ears are cleanly-welded into holes on the outer side of the rims.

Actually, as some of us already know, the old Sol congas featured this combined Gon Bops CA/Valje design. One very noticeable exception is that the rim of the Sol conga featured a brushed metal finish, instead of being smooth, chromed or stainless steel.

I wonder if, with regard to the latest Volcano Percussion rims, Tom Alexander has been influenced by both Akbar Moghaddam and Tom Flores.

Hello,
Thank you all for the nice complements. All the credit goes to Thomas Alexander. Thomas Polishes the stainless steel to a high gloss. It looks like chrome. I am an Old School player and I love the trad rims. I wanted to try the new half round and I do like them. I am not a fan of comfort curve rims. I don't really know who inspires Thomas in his designs but I would think just like us we are inspired by many people. Tomorrow I will have some time to give them a work out.
Thanks
Mike

Thanks again guys,

Here is a close up of the trad rims and Tom's new half round. I like them. The Heads are steer hide with a lot of oil in the heads. The oil is what gives the heads a darker color. They are very nice to play on. I am very lucky to have these drums.
Take care

Mike

OMG, the half round rim look a tad like a sharp knife blade in the first pic! :o
Or is this only due to the photo perspective?
I guess not, otherwise the word "good chops" would take on a rather sinister meaning

Greetings from

Mike,

It's due to the photo perspective. IMO, it's a reflection of the half-round rim of the drum next to it.
