Make over finally finished

I finally got the drum finished & put back together. Looks great and matches the new ones nicely. In the group pic, it is the one on the far right.

I notice different heads on them. Were you testing for the best sounding head for each drum?

Thanks for the replys guys. As fas as the different heads go, some heads would not fit the crown right, even though they were supposed to. On my quinto I have a tucked Fiberskyn3,on the 11 3/4 conga that I refinished another tucked Fiberskyn3, on the other 11 3/4 conga I put a crimplock Fiberskyn, and the 12 1/2 tumba I put a tucked Nuskyn. The tumba has a deeper tone with the Nuskyn. I had alot of trouble getting a tucked fiberskyn3 on the one conga, but the crimplock fit. They really made a difference in tone with these skins & also the rubber feet really makes the project louder by raising them a bit off the floor.

Great job!

How did you apply the varnish? I am having a hard time getting a glassy look!

Thanks

Traumtyp,
be warned: Those are LP´s Rubber conga feet, but they are no good.
They lift the conga about an inch from the ground, but they are as stable
as the world financial market at the moment

I would advise you to either stay away from those rubbish feet or
you can modify them viewtopic.php?f=14&t=4197&p=42243&hilit=rubber+feet#p42243
or create something on your own like done here by ingenious congaplace members:

Just my two feet
