Thanks Picasso,

Unfortunately I'll be in in Tennesse, if not it will be my pleasure. La doña looks like she could cook up a storm. I love Puerto Rican food, similar but at the same time different from Cuban. I also love Mavi, Coquito and Tembleque.

James,

Congratulations!

Wow, I can't believe that you're actually seriously considering not opening those 3 boxes until Christmas Day!

I definitely don't have your self-restraint. If it were me, I'd rationalize opening those boxes immediately by telling myself that everyday should be Christmas Day.

So, which of the 3 boxes is the gift of gold, of frankincense and of myrrh? :D

Omelenko y SalseroBoricua,
You guys sure do know how to open an appetite!!!!
BTW, there's a few Puerto Rican restaurants in Miami have sell alcapurrias, pasteles, bacalaitos etc but I honestly havent found one that make them well! Nothing like Pinones y Luquillo (kiosko #2 :-)) .... Yet I have already made Xmas catering arrangements with a restaurant near my house on Red Road called Old San Juan. I've only tried their Asopao de Pollo and it's good. For the 24th I ordered lechon, arroz con gandules y pasteles (los pedi de Yuca en vez de masa y el chef los va a hacer!) y finalmente tembleque de coco pa'l postre. Chacho, tremenda jartera!!!!
Dario te guardo algo pa cuando vuelvas de Tennessee!! :)
Bro, you definitely know your drums!! Thanks for clarifying it for us. I guess a good way to distinguish the twi is by comparing woods right? otherwise they look very much alike!
Hey, would you mind if I came over a played your Juniors and Ritmos one day??
I've been wanting to meet you plus I'm extremely curious about the two sounds and their differences!
Where do you store them all?! ....

Taikonoatama,
Congrats! But seriously now, you expect us to believe you haven't opened those boxes yet!!!! We know that's a picture of the EMPTY boxes!!
(j.k.!) Wish you the best in catching any sleep from now until then!
Aiku,

Well, they've now had a night to get used to their new home and I opened the blinds just after sunrise to let the sun welcome them and snapped a few pics. Mahogany really lightens up in direct light /flash - in person the color is a little more understated - very rich and beautiful.

They're incredible.

Haven't had a chance to fully air them out, as my downstairs neighbor was home last night, but had to at least play them and man, sweeeeeeet! I almost took one with me to bed, but the gf wouldn't have it. Gotta work, but more later.

I think they are the most striking drums I've seen so far, that beautiful striping on the wood, wow ! When are you selling all your other sets ? ;-)

Conga-tulations Taikonoatama, awesome looking and no doubt sounding tambores. I would really like to order a re-quinto from Mat, hopefully in the near future  .

I am drooling!
Truly amazing tumbadoras. I would expect nothing less of Matthew's work.
By far the best craftsman in the authentic Cuban line of congas (Vergara style).
Conga-tulations indeed!!! 8) 8)
