It is actually common to play son clave with Yambu.
There is also a Yambu clave which goes like this X--XX--XX-X-X---.

X--XX--XX-X-X- BnB thats the clave we use for Yambu . :D
Corect if wrong but what stg de cuba are doing with clave sound to my ears like hoking with different pitch clave .
I have had a play at call and respond with diff clave and it sounds pretty good with 2 clave players .

Lightseeker this Rumba Espiritual has been playing around in my head for a few weeks now . I have been trying to find la cancion for this cantor . anyone help?

Hi guys,

That's the Clave used in Yambú Matancero.

Yambú Havanero uses Són Clave.

Hope this helps,

Awesome performance by the maestro, thanks for sharing.
From 5´00" onwards you can see the 3 congas quite well,
but I cannot tell which brand they are.

Cheers

Looks to me like a combination of different brands:

Valje Super Tumba, Gon Bops Tumba, and either a Natalio "Junior" Tirado or Vergara conga as his main drum.

Hope this helps,

Light seeker and Congadelica, I to found this yambu striking, so much that I tried to recreate it myself. Here is how it came out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejsZddSf ... annel_page

Part of the lyrics are a song to Orisha Heviosso. I believe, a lesser known name of Chango, at least to those like myself who have an association with the belief but do not practice.

Here are a few of the lyrics that I was able to detect, which I used in my version. Would love to here how you guys play it.

Please guys let me encourage you to share songs, arrangements and generally discuss the rumba on these forums.
We all enjoy the conga porn, discussing the makers and suchlike but apart from the youtube clips and the occasional obituary there is a distinct lack of rumba here.

I humbly propose a dedicated thread or even a forum/ subforum for the purpose how about it Abakua? Lets honour the roots of our instrument, keep them alive and progress them into the future.
Tradition is not the custody of ashes but the propagation of fire.

I agree with Thomas. A new forum should be done for the players on this site. I'm sure someone like JC or Abakua could get it going by putting the first videos!

Congamyk...Holy S*#@ that requinto sounds sick! Thx 4 that clip.

I've been taught another Yambu Clave by Carlos Aldama for a Havana style yambu,
it is a little different X--XX--XX-X-X-X- than Matanzas style yambu clave.

Carlos is from Havana, I was taught the Matanzas style yambu clave from Sandy Perez, who is a Matancero.

Alafia Abures Mi!
I hope that you are all well and abundantly blessed!

Here is a group of Puerto Rican rumberos performing at a function paying homage to el gran Angel "Cachete" Maldonado!
Sorry about the video quality, but listen to the technique of the quinto player, he is rippin' it apart!

Suave!
