Thanks for the info on Madamo Diaz guys!

On a different note, on 1/31/09 I had the privilege and honor of attending the 70th birthday celebration of Latin Percussion founder, Martin Cohen, in his home in Montvale, NJ. The music, the food, the people, and the energy were awesome! There was a verifiable who's who of musicians and Latin percussionists that showed up and rocked the house. And when the rumba got started late in the evening, wow! Que rumbaso! Below are some of Martin's videos to this event. Enjoy!

I would like to share with all of you one of my favorite music videos which is from one of the all time favorites Miguelito Valdes and his Orchestra in this video they are playing the famous song Babalu. I tried to do some research on the person playing the Timbales and on the conguero but to no avail maybe someone out there in Conga central can shed some light on there person, thanks and enjoy.

Hey percussionists,

I thought I'd share this video clip with you all. The guy playing the tiny toy bongos is Hakim Ludin. I just ran into some of his videos today and thought he was pretty impressive. Unconventional for sure since he seems to have an Indian technique in all his playing but really good nonetheless. He's clean and does a lot of cool stuff. Check out his other videos.
In this one, he's playing a set of bongos that most of us wouldn't even bother to pick up as we would chuckle at the sight of them. Yet he PLAYS them!
Notice the set of bigger bongos sitting on the ground next to him. The hembra looks HUGE.

It's hard to see the performers faces, the Iya and the Itotele players are not Sandy,
the onkonkolo player looks a little too tall.

I was thinking the Okonkolo/shekere guy looked like him,, he sure plays the shaker like Sandy.
Nice clip BNB!!! He was definitely flashing some quick and pronounced technique..
