Hard to bear indeed - a crime against congueros worldwide as far as "instruction", "tips" or "technique" of any kind is concerned!
There is some entertainment value though - how stupid can people be when they claim to be experts
Any moron can post rubbish on the Net without getting punished

The only thing I am wondering about: What is a really good educational vid of your Johnny Conga doing there? :? He is the only real expert !

This is a great thread!!!! I have a feeling a million videos will make it on this forum! And with reason I might add!! :D Wow, this is going to be fun. And frustrating of course. WE should definitely let these people know where they are and how they should simply stay away from teaching a subject they have not even bothered to learn first!

Sad thing is that they look like reasonable players on their respective primary instruments.

Which makes their lack of respect for Congas even worse.

I was just annoyed to the degree of shouting, cursing...
6*8 is right, someone should show them the way,
but I think they are just too stupid ******* (think what you will  ) and would not understand.

The only thing I am most certain of is that fun or even humour is something else...

This to me is far deeper than just idiots posting crappy videos to me it tells me that there is still a large very large group of people that still don't think congas and bongos are real instruments they still look at them like toys. I find this to be an insult and it drives me insane.

Yep, this is hilariously sad. Though I don't think we'll ever stop seein' the morns who "want to play yer bongos" and have no respect for our instrument. These are the same people who cut into line, park their car diagonally across two spaces, tailgate you in the right lane and call you up at dinner time to try and sell you something.

What can i say ignorance is mans worst enemy, I did contact Mr. Hall and this is his reply. And by the way ...HEY is for horses

Hey there,

I don't pretend to be a legit player of congas but I can play then as a side (trumpet my main) which takes soem guts, and I am serious. Innovation is not bastardization - I do what I can so I can play them with the limited time I have, and have gained mutual respect from fellow musicians playing pro gigs and festivals. So don't think I'm making fun of congas or anything else I play.
And there's no one true way to play anthing - so pleae lighten up.

Cheers,
Steve

LOL

I had a similar reply sent to me. After reading the reply I was sent, re-checking his body and facial language as he speaks, I think he may not be "all there".
Each to their own.
Simply another imposter. And yes, ignorant and deluded.

You know, after all from time to time ...some comedy relief doesn't hurt, as a matter of fact is kind of healthy; why ? because I just couldn't stop laughing hard, and they say laughing is good for you.

He sent me the same response and promptly deleted my comment about his ridiculous video.

Hey there,

Saw what you and Marcelo wrote.

I don't pretend to be a legit player of congas but I can play then as a side (trumpet my main) which takes some work, and I am serious. Innovation is not bastardization - I do what I can so I can play them with the limited time I have, and have gained mutual respect from fellow musicians playing pro gigs and festivals. So don't think I'm making fun of congas or anything else I play.
And there's no one true way to play anthing - so please lighten up, man.

Cheers,
Steve
what an idiot he says he doesn't pretend to be a legit player! isn't that what he's doing in the video?

One of the most stupid "Instructional" conga videos was by a DJ/drummer in England.
It was absolutely the most stupid video ever - he took it down.

Here are a few more silly and entertaining conga videos.
All you have to do is put "congOs" in the search bar to see some funny stuff.
