Hello Congaplace,

Here is a beautiful new creation from Volcano Percussion for people interested in Thomas Alexander's work. A set of Chocolate Albizzia Wood Congas. They belong to one of our my students. They have Volcano's Natural fusion hardware,( Remo sideplates ) and full protection bumpers. This is a more affordable option of hardware offered by Volcano. My student will receive them this week. I love the way the the drums look. I will post on how they sound next week. I don't know if any company has ever made Congas out of Chocolate Albizzia Wood.

I never heard of Chocolate Albizzia wood before this.
Those look very good, like all of Volcanoes drums.
I understand why the bumpers are put on, but they really
don't seem to match the drum at all. I just cut the bumpers
off of a Gon Bops I received recently. Just too ugly.

Mike, do you keep the bumpers on your Volcanoes?

Gallichio that hardware looks very familiar, it looks exacly like the one on my REMOS. Do you know if Remo provides the hardware, or at least some of it, to Volcano? Even the bumbers look identical, with the exception of the word "REMO". I can say with all honesty that, that hardware is perty heavy dutty .

Volcano's Custom Traditional with a mirror finish hardware is all hand made and is Stainless Steel. Very labor intensive. This hardware costs much less and is just fine. I know the side plates are Remo. I don't know if the rims are. I am not crazy about the looks of the protectors and I would remove them. I have been told they do offer the best protection. Remo has used them for years and I have been told the hardware works very well. I am glad Volcano Percussion offers a less expensive option. This chrome plated hardware is much more affordable. I could not find much information on this wood but I love how it looks.

I don't know if the rims are.

I think I can say with confidence that the Rims are also REMO. If you look closely on the "Hook Loop" you can notice REMOS distinct shape, kinda like an upside down crown. The protector are no doubt top notch, I keep them on my REMOS because as you can see they blend right in but I would never think about puting them on my SKIN ON SKINS.Over all I must say that I have learned to like the traditional rims and overall traditional hardaware over anything else thats out there , them Volcanos are sure some awesome looking drums though.
