Tonio,

Just in case you haven't seen it yet, here the link to an interesting review of the GB Alex Acunas by Drum Magazine:

It looks like California Percussion is the only place on the web that advertises or even mentions this 50th Annivesary Series...at least that I can find. Gon Bops website doesn't even have a picture or mention. The GB website pictures still shows the CA series with calf skins, and keeps the Remo skins in the small description. These 50th Anniversary drums look to have the calf skins in the picture. Suggest you call first.

btw, this thread title is misleading these days. It was accurate 15 months ago...and who knows, it may be accurate again in the future.

Jim,

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I, too, later on found out online that only California Percussion advertises and carries the Gon Bops CA 50th Anniversary Series. Also, that Gon Bops' website doesn't even mention it.

I find this very weird about Gon Bops'/DW's marketing. Almost lazy, in fact, that they would let this apparent oversight happen.

Thanks for the links Manny. It seems like Cascio may not have any in stock and suggests build to order. i didn't get a chance to call them. Their prices seem good on many items.

woah, what's this USA brackets ??

Odd DW would not have this one their web site.

I bit the bullet and bought the set of Alex Acuna Gon Bops from California percussion. Conga and Quinto plus free shipping for $610. Very solid deal and great place to work with thus far. Can't wait to get them, the salesman assured me the heads were in fact rawhide and not plastic on this particular set. (Mabye an older stock?) I will post replies when I get a chance to dance with them for a night or two.

gruvdrumr,

$610 for a set of Gon Bops Alex Acuna conga and quinto is an awesome deal that's tough to beat!

I'm confident that you'll love the sight and sounds of your Gon Bops as much as I and others do.

Congratulations,
