PM Percussion

Can anyone talk about PM Percussion and the quality of their congas? I haven't heard anything on them yet and I thought I had aleady heard about ALL the brands in this site! Recently someone added pics of these drums in the 'California Congas' thread. I wrote to Peter Musser (maker) and he says he's working on a new series. The last series sold out at $800 per drum. I immediately thought about drums in that price range like Matthew Smiths and SOS etc and wondered if PMs are actually as good as those drums.
Does anyone have them? How do they compare?
Thanks
Aiku,

They certainly look the part, but could be yet another example of selling "shiny beads to the Indians"
I hope not.
I like the traditional hardware, chrome/stainless steel though, not the gold plated stuff. Also great looking woodgrain and strong looking hardware.
At that sort of price though, you surely cant go past SOS, Ritmo etc for authenticity in sound & look...Depends what your thing is.

Competition is a great thing. Keeps every maker on their game.

I might be having a gig up in Petaluma soon, I'll try and check out
PM Percussion if I do. He's probably a pretty small operation, I've never
seen his drums around.

BNB,

That would be awesome. These drums look great but testing them first hand is the only way to really know.

Enjoy your trip.
