Na bro, the beast aint mine. I found it online and had to share it on here.
That requinto was for sale a while back, but then again, it could be a 12.5" tumba but next to that super tumba it looks like a requinto!

I've seen that drum picture a lot, it's from the original Valje shop in L.A.
Ralph at Resolution Drums has it posted in his companies website in the "history section".

Thanks man, I'll take that as a compliment. My first drum was a beat up old fiberglass LP, and my
first set was all old LP fiberglass.
This little collection took about 3 years to build and I had a little luck with some of the vintage pieces.
It's exactly where I want it, each drum has a purpose, and is meant to be played. I am not looking to get any more drums for
a long long long time.

New player . . . .

These Tumbao Pro have a new home . . . . . .

You'll notice the old Kawai MIDI sequencer on the rack. Used for the most part for percussion tracks with a Motif synth below. Perhaps soon enough I'll be playing live recordings of my own percussion tracks to accompany myself on keys. But those abilities are miles between . . . . . . . . .

The quinto in the background is just that. Part of a good deal when purchasing all three drums, but right now concentrating on the conga alone (with the odd 'slap' of the tumba).

Congatulations on a great looking set of drums terra3, it sounds like you’re on the right track, starting with one drum. Tell me, your drums, did they come with natural skins, which they appear to be, or are they synthetic? I see that you got some Gibraltar stands as well, nice and sturdy, actually my favorite. Would you mind sharing what kind of deal you got for the set and whet it is that you purchased them?

Yes, natural skins. I don't have previous experience with the drums, let alone synthetic skins, but I like the texture and dynamic of the skin even at the stage I'm at. And the Gibraltar stands are perfect for my use, not to mention inexpensive and sturdy as hell.

I live in Canada but purchased them from Calif Percussion. They had a deal on 3 x drums plus congas for $699USD. A few have indicated to me after the fact that there could be better deals found in the states but to me this was/is good. To put this into perspective, much more expensive if I purchased in Canada . . . best price that I was provided for conga and tumba alone was $995Cdn . . . , and equally of concern, delivery times quoted in terms of months. Calif Percussion had them in stock and out to me within a week and a half. They were also very helpful to this new 'kid'. Not being familiar with the Co, I also had a discussion with a forum member that had purchased in shop and he indicated that the Co was good (thanks again!).

A happy lad at this end.

You're welcome - I think I even played that quinto in the showroom! They had the skin loosened up so I couldn't get a real feel for the difference in sound between that one and the Remo Nuskyn on the one I bought... it would be neat to hear them side by side.
