Canoe wood; Early American Walnut. Mario said he would send some photos as work progressed. I'll pass them along.

Hey , guys.. has any one of you that have a Isla reQuinto found a good bag it?

I am wondering if anyone has found a bag that fits those size requintos properly to protect?

Mass produce companies dont make that size i a not shure if size 9' bags are available in the market.

Thanks for your help.

I'm planning on getting a protection racket case for mine, they run a little bit on the small
side. Best cases I know of, and usually priced very well.

Right now I'm just using an army surplus duffel bag.

hi, on recomendation from bongosnotbombs i got protection racket cases for my set of islas. quinto, conga, tumba. i agree this are the best cases in the market right now, for the purpose of course (gigging, carrying them around jams, general moving and storing) not to send them to the middle east in cargo, these are soft cases. i have the 10 1/4 quinto and the bag is the 10. the bag is still a litte on the loose side but it does fit nice (to me), again it's kind of loose. this is the smallest size protection racket carries for congas, however, i believe if you contact them (through a dealer works best) they may be able to custom make it for you. i know, some guys might think it's too much effort for a bag, but personally i will just get exactly what i want (if possible).
thank you bongosnotbombs for the recomendation, they work great, i got them through the professional drum shop in L.A. great guys and great bussiness.

I'm glad the bags are working out for you, the credit really belongs to Abakua (Marcelo) the moderator, he endorses the Protection Racket and originally recommended the bags to me.
It's good to know about the 10" bag. I myself got an 11 3/4" bag for an 11" Skin on Skin, but the drum is actually
too big for that bag. The head fits fine, but the belly of that drum is too wide.

Yeah, thank you bongosnotbombs and abakua, I really like them. mmm... interesting...about your 11" drum, my Isla 11 3/4 conga fits perfectly (on the loose side) in the 11 3/4 Protection Racket bag, which curiously Protection Racket calls their size 12 bag. Just for more info: They also call their 12 1/2, size 13. Their size 10 is actually 10". Thank you again guys.

Abakua also turned me on to Protection Racket bags, and they are absolutely cool. They ain't hard cases and no wheels, but for my monthly gig shleps/set-up/break-down they work just dandy and can be empty-nested with some effort to take up less space in those tight bar/club corners when there is no gear staging area.

Thank YOU , Gordie...and all you guys.
Yes Protection Rackets are great, i my self have 2, 11 3/4 and a13, i am very hapy with them.
May be the 10 would do, but not as snug.

Perhaps they can manufacture a sz 9 3/4 anything around 9, for the conga forum members :D seems like i have not been the only one looking for such a bag, it seems we all have a good experience with them, we just need them to add a9 to their line, because we all seem to prefer those pro rackets.
I think a few of us ould buy that size if the specially make a batch for all ya'll reQuinteros.

There's an Isla up for sale, over here in the Bay Area.
Seller is one of Mario's close friends, he selling it for him.
Looks like a nice drum, discount price and no waiting period.

I'm selling a Brand new Conga (11.75" Head and 30" Tall) Canoe Wood (similar to Mahogany).
Handcrafted by ISLA PERCUSSION.
Checkout the link below and read what people are saying about ISLA or go to Youtube for visual and audio sampling.

I'm happy to say that Mario has given me the good word. The work is complete. The anticipation can only be topped by playing. I'm looking forward to their arrival. Here is a preview:

Wow! Lonz, those are awesome!
I just heard from Mario yesterday that my Iya is being shipped! It'll complete my bata set. I had one shipped this summer and was broken, so I now anxiously await it's replacement!

A question to you guys getting the cases.. About how much do they cost? I don't remember prices on the website.
