metal polished bands for gon bops quinto

I recently purchased a used 3000 series 9 1/2 quinto gon bop. It's missing the top metal band. Do you know where I could get one. Is there a company selling gon bop parts for the older drums. Also do those bands really serve a function, they dont seem that tight.

Original equipment for these drums is no longer available, the only way you can get one of these band would be to have one custom made by one of the current manufacturers, Isla, Jay Bereck or Matthew Smith.

Yes they definitely do. They strengthen the overall structure of the drum, keeping the staves from splitting. If they are loose you should have someone tighten them.
