I have my 3 LP fiberglass Patato's with tucked Remo NUSKYN heads and have 3 new MEINL Luis Conte drums which are in the process of getting re-stained. I'll try the skin heads that came with them but, already have the Remo Crimplock Symmetry heads waiting on the side.
I had 3 Skin on Skin congas years ago but, sold them....yeah, I know.....

The Aspire Bongos  are the one thing you could do without IMHO,
considering your otherwise terrific set !
By the way, what cymbal do you use with the timbales set?

Mike I can assure you that those are NOT Aspire bongos, I have aset of Aspires. Notice on DJBakan's bongos there are grooves cut into the shell, a feature that Aspires lack. I would guess LP Generation II

By the way DJBakan's, nice set of drums bro.

Yes king, I was about to say.. these bongos are absolutely not Aspire.

Must be a joke or a mix up since you have such a nice set..I assume you now your stuff.

I did realize that there is no Aspire bongó in the picture - it would have hurt our eyes, wouldn´t it? :D
Just wanted to say that there is not really the need to mention this low-quality "instrument", especially if
you can boast such a professional setup. Two thumbs up, DjBakan!

BTW I see that we stray from the path: this thread is about the # of CONGAS...

Hi,

The cymbal in my Timbales is the Sabian AA El Sabor 18"
About the Aspire Bongo, is not the one in the pic. The one in the pic is a Galaxy Bongo.

Take care

Thanks man, I worked hard to have that set, actually I saved a good amount of money because I got them from a guy that was selling the 4 Gio Congas and the Gio Bongos with the stand and the basket stands and bags, everything in really good condition and all for a nice price.

I've currently got 7,
2 Ca. Series Gonbops, 11.5" 12.25"
2 Mexican Oak drums by R. Galvan, 11.0", 12.0" nobody seems to know much about these drums
2 Vintage Mahogany SONOCS, 10.5", 12.0" on their way to Matt Smith for a complete refurb
1 Old gon bops oak 10.75"

I'll get some pics up of the nice set when my drums are done at Matts, I'm going to match the Sonocs with the gonbops, they're exactly the same height.

Beater Conga trio these babies all sound incredible, mule skin on the gon bops, matt smith skin on the 11", bill confer skin on the 12

Here's the drum Matt repaired, it was in bad shape, he said it took him a lot longer than he expected, lots of fiberglass patchwork on the inside, drum may look ugly, but the sound is phenomenal!

Image

Close up of the tumba with badge, i'll probably have this one professionally redone some day too to fix the cracks and the separation

Image

Lots of these floating around, I've got to say this baby sounds awesome with the muleskin, rumbeando!

Ok with the ritmos I've now got nine.

2 Ritmo oaks- 113/4 and 13
2 gon bops Ca.- 11.5, 12.25
2 mexican oak drums- 11,12
1 Vinage gon bops oak 10.5
2 cuban mahogany sonocs 10.5- 12, out for repair

When the Sonocs come back I'm going to have to give up something, I'll probably sell the Gon Bops as a set of three.

So do I now. Well, here is my mixed bag that I sorted
a bit for the photo, highest pitch drums to the left, and
similar-tuned congas behind each other.
It is:
1 Valje by LP
2 Gon Bops
1 Matador
1 Giovanni
1 Afro
3 LP Classics
all 9 congas.JPG

I use these drums in different configurations,
not all 9 at a time
These tumbadores are able to make
fine temporary trysts depending on the situation
- it stays all in the family though.
all my congas from above.JPG

I gotta be care not to extend this hoarding any longer though,
or marital trouble will be around the corner.... I am done I guess.

Please not that I live in a water buffalo-free environment
as far as the skins are concerned
Peace & drum
