Akdom, those Bauer babies look sweet! Congrats and enjoy playing them! I have heard only good things about the Bauer sound but never tested them. BTW last weekend I tried German mahogany congas made by Jost Reiche http://www.reiche-trommelbau.de which astounded me for their warm and dry sound. But - hey, just playing, no buying for me now, my (mis)match is made with congas - for the moment at least.
Congarats! nice looking Tumbadora`s , I have played many Bauer congas and can tell you they have a unique sound the tumba has a nice rounded fat tone and the quinto cranked up is a screamer . NOW GET THEM CUEROS broken in
I tried them this evening without stretching the skins too much and they already sounded sweet. The quinto slaps like crazy, and even the tumba slaps very easily.
The tones are very warm and even if the skins are not properly tuned yet, there is no noticeable ringing sound... I cannot wait to find their sweet spots and try them with the band live!

Thanks. I hope so.
I actually was asked to manage the best Latin band of the region AND to replace their conguero! They are very old and dear friends. It'll be a new adventure and a lot of fun for sure.
Just for fun, a short video with my new set and some tips about the marcha.
Beautiful drums. Enjoy them. Good video also. I especially like the part when the coffee table mysteriously moves at the 3:04 mark. Those must be some powerful drums....
