Look out for Colombian Percussion in Cali , Colombia. Gonzalo likes money up front, and then you wait and wait...you may call him and he promises it is on its way and you wait some more and unless you go to Colombia and make the pick up personally, HE WILL KEEP YOUR MONEY .....A sad thing from someone in a 3rd world country .

I have had a number of sets through the years, presently don't have any. The 1970's Palisades Park mahogany LP (original model) is a very reliable bongo' with a great sound. They tend to split with time, but is an easy fix. They are getting harder to find these days, but they are great to have and don't weigh that much. Next time I get one it will be for keeps.

I got one and most of the weight is due to the hardware, the shells are feather-lite. The staves tend to come apart, I repaired mine couple years ago. They are definitely keepers. I would not mind buying another set like it later on down the road.

My first real bongo! Bought it new and have it still. Many others have come and gone but mine is a keeper for sure.
