Mexican. The hardware is a dead giveaway, also the imbedded bands, this characteristic in particular, imbedded bands, was very typical of Mexican congas. I would say that the actual conga is built descent, but the hardware is a different story. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the help once again. When I went to check it out I was surprised by how small it was,24" tall,9" head, apparently it has a replaced head. For $40 I figured it would make a good decoration for my man-cave if nothing else.I might even take on the hardware upgrade.
I would do it. This drum would look fantastic with a re finish and with traditional Old School hardware> I say do it!
Yeah I agree, even though its 24" pero ultimately its a toy for a talented toddler. I can see dangler right now whipping out his 24" drum throwing down some nasty chops during agua time in between dominoes. Dale agua!
I would like to try and make my own hardware. The side plates look easy enough to fabricate,I am wondering if one of those roller thingy's is necessary to bend the metal for the rims and how the bands are made to fit the contours of the drum. Does anyone have expertise in this?
