I want to offer the members of congaplace.com first chance at buying this awesome set of drums made in Paisley Park, New Jersey by LP, around the mid 70's. The set is mother of peal fiberglass one of a kind, all new heads which were mounted by Robert Feltcher in San Diego. These drums are in mint shape for the age that they are, they also have the original handles on them. If you are at all interested I'm asking $1200 + shipping (from AZ). Please call if you are interested or have any more questions: (406) 253-6925. See Pics Below!
SOLD to me Congabluedog! Lost Soul I promised I would post how happy I am with these drums and I really am. I have never seen drums like this before. The pics don't do them any justice. I tried to capture some of the iridescent pink and green Mother of Pearl but really you have to see them in person. They sound really beautiful too. Hope you enjoy the pics and if anyone has info on the history of these drums please share. Does anyone know how many were made? Has anyone seen a set of these? They literally seem to be made with Mother of Pearl shell. They are my Yemaya drums. Thank you so much Lost Soul (and my 2010 tax return!) Jacqui
Thanks for the link...great photo of these drums. I actually ended up writing to the man himself...Martin Cohen and asked him about these "Black Pearl " drums. He was kind enough to write back and basically told me that not many were made because they couldn't replicate the large mother of pearl chips in subsequent molders. It was a short run. He also strongly believed that they were mother of pearl but he wasn't 100% positive on this. Anyway...it was really nice to receive a letter from him. Thanks again for the link. Jacqui
Thumbs Up on the vintage congas! Man...very cool old school Lp's! Nice skins too! Perfectly mounted... Robert Feltcher has some of the best skins, is he still selling them? Apollo.
