Sabian AAX El Sabor Picante Hand Crash Cymbal

Postby Skulmoski » Thu Jun 10, 2010 3:16 pm

Hello

I play congas to all sorts of music and will all sorts of musicians. Having come to congas by way of the kit drum, I am interested in adding the Sabian AAX El Sabor Picante Hand Crash Cymbal for accents with my right hand. Does anyone here have experience with this cymbal? 18" or 16"? Is there something else out there I should be looking at.

Many thanks folks

I can second that, the 16" that I own is really sensitive and not hard on your hands at all.
It is also highly useful as a cymbal in a timbales setup, because the bell sound is awesome, you
can do a joyride
Peace & drum

Hola Muchachos,

I'm back after a long stay off, but have been regularly mooching this fantastic site.

The cymbal No 2 mentions is a Meinl Candella splash which is also one you should have in your hand armoury. BTW cool the way he has it rigged.
Now the Sabian El Sabor Picante is one you MUST have, as Mike points out, it has so many voices and a bell sound to die for.

Skulmoski dont even think about it, but try as many as you can before you buy, and take a stick to the shop to try the bell because they all have slight variations in sound. That said, I bought mine online and am totally happy with it.

Glad to be back

UFIP has quite interesting character. Too dark maybe, but they have their sound.
You can check it on 2 min 08 sec here:

And here is nice Zildjan splash

BTW I'm looking for 2 splashes or splash/crash to add to my set .
Tough...
