I found this beautiful set of african congas at drumskull site. They are solid wood (linké) and they lok terrific, nice hardware, similar to gonboops.was anybody play them or now somethin about the sound and quality??
I own a set... So does another dude on here. I originally had them rope tuned, but sent the quinto back for hardware. They are great sounding drums. These guys use great skins. Nothing you get from them is half-assed. They won't ship something they aren't 100% proud of. They are different than cuban drums of course. Here's a link of some stuff I played when they came right out of the box. This might give you some idea what they sound like. This is when the quinto was still rope tuned.
I have another thread on here somewhere with closeups of the base of the shells. They did a really nice inset rubber bottom for me. It's flush with the rest of the drum.
I'm the other guy who has some Drumskull lenke wood congas which are rope tuned. They are really sweet. They are very heavy but they do sing. They sound a bit different from a traditional style of conga. With the heads I have on them, they are very warm. I have 7 Drumskull drums and my congas are my favorite drums. I also agree with Garvin that the drums they ship are world class.
Hy Garvin!! Thanks for the video, nice groove, and beautiful drums,They sound very good.the issue for me is the rope tunning. The wardware model is gorgeous but is a wole difference in price too.Drumskull company seems to be outstanding,I ordered a djembé and can wait too see the beauty.
The only reason I really trusted the rope is because I know, and trust the work I've seen these guys do. Obviously you can't fine tune these things in between songs during a gig though, which is another reason why I put hardware on the quinto. But the rope does fine once you break them in. I've heard other rope tuned drums which looked and sounded very bad. These definitely turn heads.
Your djembe will be awesome. You absolutely get what you pay for from them. Congrats.
