Hmmm... Im a bit of a horsepower junky....

I own 2 cars.

My race car has a 30K engine, 12K paint job, 6K wheels, 4K brakes, 3K suspension, close to 7K in electronics inside (gauges,ECU & other engine management accessories), I could go on, but those are the main expenses incurred, and the car itself was purchased for 19K before the work was carried out.
Here is an engine shot...

Do I need it? Not sure, but nothing comes close to the experience of driving it, cant ever see myself selling it, I plan on handing it down to my grandchildren one day...

Then there's my other car, the daily car.... She's also a bit of a beast.

Do I need it? I guess.  Good luck convincing me I dont though.

To be a great driver and get yourself and your passengers from point A to point B safely and quickly, you don't need an expensive car. Cracks me up when I pass a Lamborghini at 4 mph in a freeway traffic jam when I visit LA. I passed a gorgeous red Ferrari last month on my bicycle, climbing a hill in New Jersey where all the traffic was backed up for a half mile trying to get to the George Washington Bridge. The dude never passed me back, at least not before we got to Washington Heights from NJ.

I don't need expensive but I do need really really good. Must be fast and handle well. Often ones like these do tend to be expensive but I try to look for great deals. Also, I get attached to them and tend to keep them past the time they need a lot of attention. I've had a lot of BMWs, also a lot of Gon Bops a lot of Saabs and a lot of old LPs. a few exotic collector types. I fix them up and take good care of them.

Michael Jordan wants to sell me his car, $ 432.000 but when i took it for a text ride I saw that it couldn't fly , then i said so what are the wings for ? and what broke the camels back was that where would i be able to put my 3 congas, timbales, bongos , cajon and my box of brazilian percusion...no room for my wife. So I find my Mazda MPV priceless.

Peace

I had an XJ8 for a a couple of years and I did enjoy it. Eventually, when you are just going from point A to point B you pretty much forget about it. As long as I am driving something that I feel confident will get me there and back it does not make that big of a difference to me. I got rid of it before it wanted to cost me anything and owe less on my house.

My favorite car of all time was my second car. A rather rough 1965 TR4. A lot of fun and and never worried about leaving it in a ditch over night. Those Pirellis were good in the rain, but they weren't that good 8)
