Yeah... Rumbero4 has limited posts and is "pro" Isla, but that's no stranger to me than mrhands with his limited posts and being "anti' Isla.

This thread is getting truly unbelievable!

Well the difference is that Rumbero4 actually seems to have an Isla drum and wants another. I haven't heard mrhands relate any direct experience with the drums.

That's correct. And after all the things that have been brought to light, I will never consider Isla when I buy my next set and will tell others to steer clear since the drums are INCONSISTANT. Since his drums and the issues with communication have happened on more than a couple of occasions. Isla allegedly owes Cadenza new congas or about $4000 return and has produced subpar drums on other occasion and you still choose to have a bias toward Isla. Of course, your drum came out fine. If it had come out the way Cadenza's did you'd be in the same place as him. Are you just ignoring that fact and being a troll on purpose or can you not help it? Cadenza, do you have any more of that troll spray? I don't understand how someone like bongosnotbombs stays around for so long, Every board has one, is he the resident troll? :P

OK mrhands, we heard you.... you "will never consider Isla..." Got it!

Yet you continue to personally attack others who do not agree with you...? And you don't even have a horse in the race. Who's a troll?
Why don't you spend some time re-reading your own posts instead of scrutinizing others? Or, why not actually campaign Isla on behalf of Cadenza's case, instead of attacking others here? That would at least be a productive use of your anti-Isla passions. There is no further need for your troll-like banter here.

Again, I think Cadenza has every right to continue to express his opinions here, and to continue to seek resolution and satisfaction in his dealings with Isla. However, personal attacks only appear as mis-guided frustrations at best. Some of us here are satisfied with Isla, and are just offering an alternate opinion based on our own experiences. Let those who consider Isla in the future make up their own minds.

Satisfied Isla customers are not at fault here! Get over yourselves...!

Wikipedia

"In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion."

I don't see any of BSB's posts as fitting that definition. Never have, doubt I ever will. He's been here a long time and pretty everything I've ever read by him has been on point & polite. I never met him in person and living in another county and on another coast I doubt I ever will.

Its all so silly.

Cadenza wrote:Regarding BnB, the question remains as to why his blog always comes up in the top 3 whenever I google Isla. Does this make him a troll, not really, but it certianly makes me question his motivation. I also understood that he was waiting for a set of bata, but now he says he only has "one" isla drum. it all seems like hair splitting to me, equivocation is the term I would use for it. I anticipate that if we met in person without this issue on the table we would get along just fine.

The answer to this is simple. I have written several posts about my drums in my blog, mainly about my quinto and bata. I also have written an article on the company itself. My blog also comes up 5th when I google Resolution congas, of which I own 4 drums and have mentioned in my article. I have also mentioned many other drum makes in my blog. I write about my instruments and about the music. What is suspect about that?

You are correct. I am awaiting arrival of a set of mahogany bata. Previously I owned a set of canoe wood bata which I sold to a member with a matching set of Isla congas. Also I have owned one other quinto, which arrived damaged and was replaced with the drum I have now.

I don't know what posts you are reading but I didn't attack anyone personally. And you miss the whole point. The point is Isla is an inconsistant company. Some drums are great, other's are not up to par. What is so hard to understand about that? As a business that is unacceptable especially when someone lays down $4000. I've never read anything like that about Moperc, S.O.S..why? Cuz they are professionals. Until Isla can make a consistant product, I can say whatever I want about them to those who may be looking at buying them because it is a FACT that Isla changes the wait times, that it is hard to get a hold of him, and that the buyer might get a subpar product, as it has been professed by a few members on this board. So don't tell me about how I am attacking people personally because I am not, and don't tell me I don't have a voice in this because as a player, a gigging player, and enthusiast, I have EVERY right to scrutinize any and every product out there.

I never said Isla customers are at fault, but neither of you can admit that he has done wrong. That is silly.

Well there are a couple of us who saw this problem with ISLA coming but we were shut down in the past when we brought up negatives. And for those that don't know me yes I have owned a set of Isla's.

isla produces great stuff , *& i would recomend there work to anyone , plus mario is a real cool cat, he done rite by me over the years & i have dealt with him for sometime now & he has made things rite & he knows im very picky with my stuff & once again i want to add that he realy makes a quinto that can mark all on its own , super authentic old school sound ...
im real sorry to hear about the member or members who are having problems, i truly feel for you guys aswell cause im one that can get real aggressive when it comes to anyone playing games with me , but i would say give the man a chance , keep in mind he relocated his whole operation out the country, & also knocking his game is not a good idea being you want him to make things rite ... he does good buisness & he is a good person...
one more thing i wanted to add is that when getting into a custum set of drums , you should never rush your own order, so the artisan can keep your patience in mind, & best believe when you spending long , you want to make sure your investment
pays off & will last you a life time. i personaly prefer to have the artisan take his time & not rush, & im not refering to anyones situation , im just throwing some good advice in the air..
anyway i hope everything works out well for any members who are having problems with the company.
take care fellas.
Jaisen...

That's some good advice about the patience. I guess if we want something right away we can always get tycoon lp toca or gon bop. A fine wine takes time baby! Speaking of which Matt's had my old ass sonocs for about a year now. Can't wait to see what he's done with those babies!

LET'S BE REAL HERE.
WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT GIVING AWAY A SET OF CUPS, A FLASHLIGHT, OR OTHER MINOR ITEM. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A SET OF DRUMS. NO ONE ON THIS PLANET, THAT I HAVE EVER HEARD OF, WOULD SEND AN EXTRA SET OF DRUMS TO ANYONE FOR FREE. LIKE IF IT WAS JUST A SIX PACK OF PEPSI COLA. SOME OF US HERE ON THIS FORUM HAVE BEEN PROMISED BY MARIO, FREE BATA'S, A FREE CAJON, A FREE PROTOTYPE CONGA, AND WHAT EVER ELSE. THE MONTH'S WOULD PASS. MARIO WOULD GIVE HIS UPDATE SPEAL. THEN NOTHING. MONTH'S LATER HE WOULD SAY SOMETHING LIKE. YEAH I'M LOOKING AT IT RIGHT NOW. IT'S NASTY, AND YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE IT. I JUST NEED THIS OR THAT, FOR MY MACHINE, SO THAT I CAN MAKE YOUR HARDWARE. YEARS LATER, STILL NOTHING.

SO YEAH BRO, IF YOU HAVE NOTHING BUT TIME ON YOUR HANDS, KEEP WAITING FOREVER.... NOT GOOD.

* I'M HAPPY WITH MY TWO ISLA DRUMS BUT:

** MARIO'S INABILTY TO RUN HIS BUSINESS, ON THE STRAIGHT AND TRUE, HAS DESTROYED A POTENTIAL FOLLOWING OF CUSTOMERS, THAT WOULD HAVE ELEVATED HIS COMPANY TO NEW HEIGHTS.
THERE IS NO ONE ELSE TO BLAME BUT HIMSELF.

I WAS A STRONG SUPPORTER OF ISLA, A FEW YEARS AGO. BUT MARIO'S EMPTY PROMISES HAS CHANGED THAT. ISLA SEEMS TO BE SELF DESTRUCTING. WHAT A SHAME.

Cadenza, sometimes we end up on top, sometimes on the bottom, seems like this deal has really put some bitterness into your life, to be fair I've never spent that much on a set that wasn't awesome, I feel for you brother, but it's time to move on and let it go. About 1.5 years ago I engaged in a trade, a five peice sonor lite kit valued at about 1200-1500 for two new sonor sq2 custom drums to add on to my existing sonor kit. The guy who I traded with was the guy who I bought my original sq2 kit from used, he was a small time sonor dealer. he folded nd left me hanging, fortunately fom some haggling and assistance from some fellow sonor lovers, one of whom was a former rep, I got my stuff. turned out dude went belly up and owned sonor some dough, he got my drums, sold them and bought himeslf another kit with my money. For about two months I was super pissed, it all worked out in the end, but the pont is enjoy your drums, play them, if mario comes through treat it as icinng on the cake, other than that lesson learned. I think your situation has left us all wondering about Mario, his new drums look phenomenal, and the woods look great, unfortunately I can't trust that the guy will come through, he ain't getting my money!

LOL, copy, not suggesting you're a bitter broken person, I get the gist. good luck with the situation, I hope you're at least enjoying playing the drums that you do have and that they sound at least halfway decent!
