hey Burke nice Job! I have a GB conga with the walnut stain that I bought new in 1978 , looking at how nice yours came out,Im thinking of refinishing mine, just curios how did you get the bands on and then back on so nicely? thanks, Johnny
I wish I could say there was some fancy trick ... but all I did was pull the tacks out, bands off, sand, refinish, put the bands back on [a couple of taps with a screwdiver blade to make them snug] and put the tacks back in

cool thanks, the bands on my drum just seem to be on very tight so I was kind of hesitant to take them off, I didnt want to chance on messing them up or scratching the drums finish when I reinstalled them, I may try it, thanks again, and take care. Johnny
I think may have misread your post, you are having a bit of trouble getting them off ... yes? If so could be A. just a bit snug or: B. maybe some mild adhesion because of the old finish sticking a tad ...whichever the same 'gentle tap' with screw driver blade or nail punch [anything really] should unseat them.
