3 Meinl stands bought on Ebay for $46.00

I haven't used stands since the late 80's, early 90's when I was a member of Gato Barbieri's band for several years.
I have never been "a stand player". However in recent months since I play one drum with the band I'm with, I've had a desire to play using a stand.
Sort of like a vegetarian who suddenly has a desire for some roast lechon smothered in garlic.

I only wanted one stand, I went on Ebay didn't see anything I liked, especially in my price range.
Then about three months ago I came across 3 stands made by Meinl, with exactly what I wanted... legs with "feet" and inside each "foot" was a sharp steel point, which
acts to firmly keep the stands in place when on carpet and adjustable to three heights.
They were new, with a nice black powder coating.
I looked up the model to see the retail price and found they sell for $69.99 each.

Seller had the starting bid at $46.00 for all three, plus $14.95 shipping.
I set a 'snipe' and amazingly I was the only bidder, I got all 3 stands for a total of $46.00.

What's nice is I can now keep my drums in the stands in my living room, which allows me to sweep or vacuum around the base of them much more easily then when the drums
stood on the floor.

I've always preferred stands.
Nice score.
Please give us some Gato Barbieri stories.

Yeah, very nice score,
those Meinl stands are among the sturdiest I ´ve ever seen
at that price range. Having that said, they imply a lot of
schlepp when taken to gigs. :)

Actually, not much to tell about Gato, he was very cool.
By the time I arrived (after Guilherme Franco) Gato was fortunately no longer boozing or coking anymore.
I had a lot of fun with Edy Martinez (piano) who got me on the gig.

Of any band I ever played with... I got laid the most anywhere we played.

They most definitely are the sturdiest I've ever seen, can be arranged any where you want them (unlike Lp which are a joke)
I only use one of the three stands, which fits inside the drum bag around the drum and the legs go inside the drum.
The drum itself is pulled on a collapsible/fold-able light but strong hand truck.
Easy for subway travel, folds up to go in the back of a cab. (no need to own car in Manhattan)

Basically they came to a little over $20.00 each including shipping which the seller completely under charged.
