I've admired the look of these ziricote drums. I'm anxious to hear how it sounds (I'm sure you are, too! :) )

I WISH HE DIDNT RAISE THE PRICE THE WAY HE DID ... BECAUSE BEFORE YOU COULD AFFORD A REQUINTO OR QUINTO MORE ACCESSIBLY, SINCE ECONOMY IS TUFF SOMETIMES.

THE GLUE ON ISLAS IS VERY STRONG.
DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHAT IT IS?

IT LOOKS LIKE WOOD NAILS PLASTER GLUE...LOOKS LIKE PLASTER GLUE THAT COMES OUT OF THOSE GUNS.

SOME SAY IS TITE BOND III ..ANY ONE THAT WORKS WITH GLUE AND WOOD KNOW WHAT IT IS ...I WANT TO REGLUE ONE OF MY OTHER DRUMS.
THANKS :D

After about 3 months I got my claves from Mario, but hey when they are free, it's hard to complain about the wait. They sound great.

My advice: Don't hold your f*cking breath for Mario to come through. Looks like some people get drums from him, some people get free stuff, and some people get bent over. Send your money to him at your own risk.

I enjoy the drums, and to be hones, would not mind owning a set but... I would not want to be riped off by anyone. Make your order, wait to receive the drums within a reasonable time and then pay for them, apparently this would be the only way to do buissness with ISLA.

He should seriously start using paypal.

He would definitely not be able to do business this way if he did. I don't believe he's being underhanded and no one is accusing him of that, but I would be frustrated if my money was sent and I heard nothing for months.

No one should put in an order with him unless he uses it.

I think that best way is to go to Belize on vacation and come back with the drums :D ... you kill two birds with one stone!

Humm a trip to Belize, Cost of drums + Cost of trip + hotel and food + Cost of transport back + Customs hassels and taxes = VERY EXPENSIVE DRUMS. SOS Upstate New York Great Drums no Hassel. Ritmo Percussion PA Great drums no Hassel but a wait. Flores in LA , The other guy in FL theres some other great options why screw around and frustrate yourself with this guy I wouldn't order claves from this guy with a track record like he has established. One satisfied customer in 20 and theres still discussion about him, would you buy a car from a guy with a reputation like his? If you like doing bussiness with guys like this I have a Bridge I would like to sell you and also know of a few Nigierian business ventures for you to invest in if you want pretty photos let me know just send a 95% deposit and wait for the info and photos.

Tumba I understand you were kidding, I was being Ironic but your correct the only way to assure you get the product you want from Isla is to go there and get them for your self. From my understanding some of the products he has made good on were not up to par when received. So why even bother with this guy if you hear that something is rotten in Belize its more likely than not the manufacture and not all the other excusses made by him. Again this is not directly directed at you but just a comment in general in the vien of the blog.

My apologies...

Well, it seems I have to put any drum buying on hold at the moment anyway, but seriously, I'm really digging those VGA Drums. When I first saw those strange belly shapes around many years ago, I thought they were weird. But they've really grown on me. I would love to see them in Mahogany.

I thought I saw one of the guys here say they were buying a Mahogany Tumba from VGA. I'm wondering if that is going to materialize. I'll search and ask the person what's up with that.
