Hello fellow me mebers, i have been reading this tread, and found it interesting. After i read tht someone friend from here experieced pain from playing a Gio, bongo i went to my bongo closet and took out my lp Giovannie bongo case to see.

I played it for 30 minute, i did not feel any pain at all, and i knew i shouldnt feel any as when the few time i played it i played for about 2 hours at a time. So then i played it real hard accenting the 1 and 3 on the martilo, and being loud, and i had no problem.

Any player may experiance pain, on any bongo as LEEDY mentioned befored, for unproper technic.
When i was at a friends home studio, learning from him, who is a professional, he liked the lp bongos, he said they were really loud a trait that ash wood drums have . He played for about an hour and had no pain, and he is sooo loud.
He did tell me as anexperience player that he is, that you must practice proper technic, y hacer callo en los dedos, You cant expect to have perfect fingers from playing hand percussions, after years.

I noticed a few members are shoping for an lp bongo, so i dicided to post that i am selling my Lp Giovannie bongos, that i rarely play, they are basically brand new, and have ben well kept for many years now in a case, taken out for maintance of lugs....Let me know if some one is interested, you can test them out first if you are in California..let me know

"When i bought my first lp bongo,i made shure i was getting one with American wood, i wanted the top quality bong lp offered, the most expensive wood bongo at is time which were the Gios, you also ave the valje lps, but the most expensive bongo lp had when i got mine was the lp Giovannie american ash wood, it was the most expensive because the wood was from U.S quality ash trees".

What is the proper technique to play with tip fingers?

Is hard to explain without visually being in fron of the person your trying to give tips to.
But on a bongo you should measure by your index finger, you play with half of your index finger, not just the tip.
And you can also go a little more then half for a different sound, test both versions.

You should always play beyond the edge of the drum, meaning hit "strike" the bongo head not the edge brim of the bongo.
Hitting the brim of the drum will cause lots of pain, and is a common beginners error, bad (habito).

Hope this will HELP some.
