No doubt he is continuing to evolve on them improvisations he can go from rumba to tabla techniques and everything in between to boot.

Here is Brother Neil Clarke...he has been around since the 60's and played with many famous Jazz artists and Soul artists as well..http://youtu.be/h2rsv6CHz7M.
He is in NYCity and plays with a very good friend of mine and the FIRST piano player with Willie Colon who is also my high school buddy and former bandleader of a band he had called "Jungle Rat"... Dwight Brewster(Dr.Mambo)...who co wrote on the El Malo album and plays piano/vibes/timbales/congas as well...

Great arrangement!

You can see some of the greats among the unknowns -

I was trying to see what Bongos Papo Pepin was playing. They seemed like the Gon Bop California Bongos. They look really nice with that low profile hardware. They sounded great too!

From a distance I thought the conga player was Joe Madera, but when they zoomed in I realized how bad my eyes really are. Joe has more hair than that! LOL!

Reynaldo Jorge! Pete Nader - I met Peter in the mid 70's at Gumbi Ortiz's house. Pete Miranda too - Both really nice guys. I subbed for Gumbi when he played for Johnny Polanco - Orquesta Libertad. Johnny gave me my first shot playing with a band. I used to carry Gumbi's equipment to get in the gigs while I was learning from him. Guys like the two Petes were gracious and never condescending... even after I ran into them throughout the years.

Andy Gonzalez is a nice cat too! I ran into him by Broadway - 233rd st area pretty often. He would stop and shoot the breeze for a while.

It's good to see them all on one stage playing such awesome music.

Joe Gonzalez is the other conga and bongo player on them videos
with Willie Martinez on timbales. On one of the videos Bobby Sanabria
played timbales as well on that occasion.

I agree with you Tumbas great arrangements then again we are talking about one of the great
arrangers of that kind of music no other than Mr. Ray Santos. Probably one of the few alive
that played with the Big (3) (Machito, Tito Puente, Tito Rodriguez)

Papo Pepin, one of the tastiest conga players of all time, a child wizard since an early age. Joe Gonzalez is one of the best bongo players on the scene today. Sabor, mazacote y afinque, that's what is all about and these two guys wrote the book.

Great video.

I just dont know why La Mole dosnt get down on real skins any more, mostly using synthetics, is easy to get the clear slaps, he does on the recordings with synthetic skins. Although i am a big fun of him. I would like to hear his sound on natural skined congas.

Is not the skins or the drum for that matter what makes David "La Mole" Ortiz sound good.
