Good price on that drum. I recommend fixing it for sure, the bearing edge sees plenty of contact. Just take off the head, get some glue in there and cinch her up. A new drum like that, be sure and wipe off excess glue so you can't see the repair as much. That is a pretty basic repair job, plenty of info on the forum on how to fix it. If you don't have the means, most any cabinet maker or furniture maker, carpenter could do the work for you.

That's a nice looking drum, can you put yourself on YouTube playing it. You got a great deal, now repair that bad boy.

I've had a couple sets of acunas and actually liked them quite a bit more than the more expensive CA series. The only issue with that crack is that it's actually through the stave which means the wood itself hs been compromised. I'm sure it can be repaired fairly easily.Good score!

That's why I like working with GC. I just bought my new ones from the local store and got a screaming deal on some used ones that barely even had finger prints on them. Nice job on handling the problem!!

Nice deal on that tumba. I have a one that i brought from E-Bay more than a year ago that was cracked 1/4 up from the bottom. It's always seem's that they never crack at the seam just between the stave. I just repaired my friend's Gon Bop bongo's with that same weird crack in it. Fix it and have fun!

You guys seem to have good conga inventories at your GC Centers, my closest one in Torrance, California only seems to carry LP Performance and Aspire. Not much used inventory.

If you go to their website, you can search for used gear in all of their stores. I have got some great deals this way. The S/H is always reasonable too.

I always call the store first and question the clerk about the item while they are looking at it. They have even sent me pics to my email when requested.

Inventory can change daily too.

Actually, not so much.. I just got lucky. I've found that going to GC.com and then find the item you want. Click on used. Then in the upper right hand corner, find stores, and then limit to only stores with inventory.. or something like that. Then you can call the specific store and ask them questions. I was prepared to buy a single conga from a different store but just got "lucky" and my local store had a set of 3 for $300! They were Performer series..not a #1 model, but they work for me. They came with LP basket stands that sell for about $45 each. The guy that helped me is a guy I work with all of the time and he told me that a lady brought them in 2 days previous and told him something like her father-in-law won't play them anymore and just wanted $150 for the whole thing! They were so new that he had to take them out of the boxes to put them on the floor!! What's the odds of finding THAT kind of deal! The manager told him that he couldn't take advantage of the lady so he could only mark them up to $300. I sold my old set of requinto and quinto for $200 so it was like upgrading to 3 new drums of better size for a hundred bucks!! Yeah baby!! Buying used from GC is a low risk deal because they give you a satisfaction guarantee.. don't like it, take it back and they will work with you just like the cracked Gon Bops.

Well that's a tough one. I basically made them a low offer and asked the guy to go talk to his manager to get it OKed.
Then the Manager would have the guy come back to the phone and make a counter offer.
Then I would start asking questions about the drum - like I may or may not want it now.

Typically you may or may not get 20-30% off of what they are asking.
