Original LP Fiberglass Congas

Just interest in knowing if anyone ever had/has a set, and a Matador set? What, if any, difference is there between the two. Are they close to the, forgive me if I get it wrong, the ones that use to be made in Garfield, NY? Any opinions, information, history, or education will greatly be appreciated.

Someone on here said the Matador wood drums were great, but the fiberglass ones were too thin. You know that the "originals" are shorter than the "Patatos". I have been looking for a set of "originals" for a long time, but don't play out, so I can't justify the expense.

I contacted LP, per the rep, Original has steel ring embedded in bearing edge, Matador does not. Rep also said that the rim is better on the original. Can anyone attest to the sound of these drums?

I have and play an original LP fiberglass tumba (1970's Palisades Park, NJ) with a set of fiberglass Matadors (Quinto and Conga). Love the sound of all three, and can tune them any way I want to match them to the genre/music/ group I'm playing with. Love their durability. But then, I'm not a conga collector (couldn't afford) nor an audio snob , but am constantly gigging in several bands in several genres. These are workhorses that get the job done.
