congaking and onile those are some nice congas. i was in the market for some new congas just recently since the tumba on my meinl marathon series cracked and ive had them for almost 10 years they still sound good, but its not the same.
i did a lot of research and since i had the money i opted to buy the entire cubano series from moperc, but the Gon Bops were my second choice. i just like you, am waiting on my congas and there are nights that i cant sleep or i dream of playing them. LOL.
i figured that this will be the last set of congas i will buy, might as well buy something thats going to last a long time, and Gon Bops have that reputation.
enjoy them brother

Alafia Abure Ozrivera!

Moperc has an excellent reputation as far as I know, I get all of my skins from Michel. He has always been super cool with my orders, in fact all of my drums have Moperc cueros on them.

As for the 'entire cubano' series, wow! Are you talking about SuperTumba, Tumba, Conga, Quinto, Re-Quinto? Whew! That's enough to keep you busy for a life time mi pana! Although, I wouldn't go swearing off any other conga sets, you never know what 'conga bug' will get you next. I actually have quite a few sets, there are a couple of brothers on this forum that have many more than I do, and much more beautiful ones. I haven't sworn off anything as of yet...................!

Please make sure to post some pics of the drums once they arrive and you can tear yourself off of them for a minute or two. I know it's gonna be hard to do, but just try my brother!

Many blessings!

Alafia Onile
i did about two months worth of research and it came down to moperc. Considering the fact that i havent played on any of them (timba, moperc,Gon Bops,JCR,isla, baur, sol, del cielo.) i had to go with word of mouth and forums & posts. i will never swear off any other pro brand, because sounds are very unique to each conguero, what i think is a good conga sound may be horrible to someone else. but i did decide early enough that i wasnt going to buy, a mass produced conga. i wanted a set of congas a lot of people said sounded good, because of its sheer quality and craftmanship. i in no way am related to moperc but i honestly believe that they can deliver the that type of quality. anyways i sound like a nut hugger.LOL
we'll see when i get them im sure i wont be dissapointed.

Oz,you did the right choice by selecting Moperc. Even thought I am not a Conguero,I can speak about the quality of Michel percussion instruments, I own one of his Bongos and the sound projection, hardware, wood and skins is far of better quality than the mass ones. Last Friday I gig with the Band and the local Bongocero of Tito Nieves was there,he came up to the stage to take a close look of the Moperc Bongó and ask me a couple of question about how to get one .

Onile, que está pasando ? So you are using a 12 1/4 as a Conga ? The Conguero with my Band have been struggling for over a month with and order he made directly to Lp,he ordered two 12 1/2 tumbas to use them as his primary set. I presented him thru the net all those different brands mentioned by Oz but he said those are too heavy to carry around. He still waiting for the order because first they send him the wrong size, then he have to wait for the return authorization and finally one of the 12 1/2 came in with a crack.

Alafia Abure Caballoballo!

Did he go directly through LP, or a distributor? Either way, he’s going to have to wait for them to confirm everything and then replace what ever defect equipment they sent him.

I think your friend, el conguero, will have a greater time playing on a 12 1/2" Tumbadora, there's more 'realestate' mas cuero pa’sacarle sonido.

¿Cómo estan las cosas contigo mi pana Caballoballo?
¿Sigues tocando y trabajando de DJ?
¡Que buena vida mi pana!

Suave!

Onile,hermano,
Todo muy bien acá en la Isla.Yes,I still working as a Dj every Friday ( mas Salsa que pescao) and we still have the Band, playing at least once a month, you know how are the music bussiness, sometimes hot sometimes cold. This month we had played 3 times and we are suppose to play next week, let see.

The Conguero,he got the deal thru one of the LP endorser at a small price but he has been having a hard time for the last month with them sending the wrong size and a 12 1/2 crack one. The last thing they wanted was a photo of the crack,I think for all the trouble that Lp cause,at least they should let him keep the crack one,he still waiting for the replace to arrive. About Moperc, it is good to have people which are interested in having top of the line instruments, I can not complain about my Bongó at all. I have another good one ( El Piernas) Which I bought from Dario, that one is a heavy SOB but the sound does compare with his weight,I mean is a good strong deep and crisp sound. saludos

¡Alafia Mis Hermanos!
