I did once, used congas and bongos. Felt like most melodic instrument.

Got this gig forwarded from friend and probably will forward next time. I listen such music only when get payed and I had to listen for 4 hours last time. But I did appreciate the work of DJ there.

Yo el_frenko!

I do club gigs on the occasion when I aint giggin with my Timba band or my Hip Hop/Funk afro band.

I will play along with a DJ (first started doing this around 10 or so years ago) I play a combination of grooves using 2 congas normally and a rack of percussion including bells, tamborines, shakers, shekere, etc...

I play variations of caballo, tumbao, songo, mozambique, pilon, conga, etc as well as my own grooves which I derive from traditional afro cuban patterns to fit into house/dance music and hip hop/RnB....

Check this thread out for some pics I posted a while back from a gig I did with a DJ in a club setting....

Yes, club sound crew mic up all my percussion in order for it to be heard over the music being played by the DJ.
Unless its an outdoor courtyard setting where DJ aint too loud and I can be heard clearly.

The reason we call them "club gigs" is that you usually gotta hit the owner of the joint over the head with a wooden bat in order to get paid!!

bahahahaha!!
You should come over this part of the world brother. Your average club gig pays $100 an hour here. Normal to get out of the club with $400 for the night, standard deal, piss easy gig.
