Just caught the first performance of AfroCuba de Matanzas here in SF. Organized by our very own blango from this board, also known as Tony.
A wonderful performance, very intimate, small venue. It was kicked of with a great conga solo by Sandy Perez. The performance continued with singing, guanguanco dancing, a song done on the bata, and much more. There was plenty of interaction between audience and performers, a nice little shekere solo at the end. El Grupo came back on for 2 encores.
Really just a great great show, I have no doubt the second show in Berkely will be just as good, everyone that can go should go.
A big thanks and conradulations to blango/Tony. I had a few seconds with him before the show, and this was his first promotion. Very well done, my man! I hope the success of this event encourages you to bring more acts of this superb quality and calibre to our little corner of the world. I for one greatly appreciate it.
